Finding Balance in the Chaos

Hey, everyone! It feels like forever since I’ve had the chance to sit down and write. This past week has been a whirlwind—between being sick and then traveling to Spearfish for work, life has been crazy! It’s been hard to find time for myself, let alone stay committed to writing this blog and getting into the Word like I want to.
I’ve realized that it’s been tough to balance my love of reading other books with my desire to dive deeper into the Bible. Anyone else relate? There’s something about getting lost in a good novel, but then I remind myself that I need to be just as excited about my time with God’s Word. So, this week, I’m starting something new. I’ve decided to wake up 30 minutes earlier in the morning. I grab a cup of coffee and spend that extra time in the Bible, soaking in His truth before the craziness of the day begins.
And then, at night, when the day is winding down, I allow myself to unwind with my personal books. It’s a nice way to end the day and keeps me from feeling like I’m neglecting one part of me for another.
I’ve done a little research on how to create and stick to a habit because I’m determined to find a routine that works for me. Life might keep throwing curveballs, but I want to stay grounded in my faith and passions—writing and reading both the Bible and my favorite personal books. I’ve also come across some great tips on sticking to new habits that I’m putting into practice.
Here are a few that might help you, too:
1. Start Small: It’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to adopt a big habit all at once. Instead, start with something small. If you’re trying to read the Bible more, maybe begin with just a few verses a day. Build consistency first, and the habit will grow from there.
2. Set a Specific Time: Habits stick better when they’re tied to a routine. Like I mentioned above I am waking up 30 minutes earlier to read the Bible in the mornings, and I know that time is reserved for me and God. Pick a time that works best for you and make it a non-negotiable part of your day.
3. Track Your Progress: There’s something motivating about seeing how far you’ve come! Whether it’s using a journal or an app, tracking your daily progress can help you stay accountable and celebrate small victories along the way.
4. Give Yourself Grace: Life gets busy, and sometimes you’ll miss a day or slip up. That’s okay! Don’t be too hard on yourself. The key is to get back on track the next day without guilt. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection.
5. Make It Enjoyable: Habits are easier to stick with when they’re something you look forward to. Find ways to make your new routine enjoyable—whether it’s brewing your favorite coffee for your morning Bible reading or setting up a cozy spot to relax in the evenings with your books.
Now, I’m so excited to get back to writing about my wedding day! That season of my life was filled with so much joy and love, and I can’t wait to share all the details with you. From how we pulled everything together in such a short time to the little magical moments that made it perfect, there’s so much to tell! I know I’ve touched on parts of it here and there, but it’s going to be fun to dive into the full story. Stay tuned because there’s a lot more to come!
Of course, life continues to throw us challenges, but through it all, my husband and I keep turning to God. We pray together, seeking His guidance for our next steps. Whether we’re facing work stress, personal struggles, or the unpredictability of life, we lean on our faith to see us through. There’s something comforting in knowing we’re not walking through the chaos alone.
I hope this week brings a little more balance for all of us—finding the time to do what we love while keeping God at the center. What are some ways you’re finding time for Him in your busy life? Let me know in the comments!
